In the first year (Advanced Bachelor’s Program) and the second year (Advanced Master’s 1)
The first two years are designed to provide students with a thorough, broad-based education—both theoretical and experimental—covering a wide range of fields in chemistry while exploring the interfaces with other disciplines, particularly physics and biology.
These years are part of the Frédéric Joliot-Curie track of the Physics-Chemistry Dual-Degree Bachelor’s Program in the first year, and the Master’s 1 in Chemistry, Frédéric Joliot-Curie track, in the second year.
In the 3rd year: a specialized year
The 3rd year is generally devoted to the Specialized Year of the ENS Paris-Saclay Degree Program, which is an elective track.
- Research and International Opportunities: pre-doctoral research year abroad (ARPE)
- “Research and Higher Education”: Master’s 2 in Higher Education Training (M2 FESup) in Chemistry
- Thematic Research: Artificial Intelligence Research Year (ARIA), Research Year in Quantum Technologies (ARTeQ) or Research Year in Sciences for Ecological Transitions (ARÉCO)
- Interface: one year of study in another DER program at ENS Paris-Saclay (typically the third year of a bachelor’s degree in the Biology or Physics DER) or one year of study in another discipline at another institution.
It is also possible to pursue a dual degree program with partner institutions such as Chimie ParisTech, ESPCI Paris, or ISAE-SUPAERO (in this case, the third year will be dedicated to a research-oriented Master 2).
In the 4th year: Research-oriented Master 2
The fourth year is generally completed as part of a Master 2 Research program of the student’s choice, which may cover all fields of chemistry (in the case of a dual degree program, the fourth year will be completed at the partner institution).
